How To Hang On To The Joy And Sidestep The Perils

The short and most reliable answer can be summed up in two words: Completion Manager. And I’m not speaking about the completion managers employed by your center. I’m talking about “Independent Completion Oversight Assets”. These are individuals or companies that are highly specialized in managing everything that we discussed in the article above. From stiff and sometimes stifling regulatory snags to complex engineering issues and the inevitable scheduling and budgetary issues, these professionals (if selected wisely) are worth their weight in gold – especially when it comes to your wallet and your sanity.  “You simply don’t have the time to learn the complexities of this niche sphere, and mistakes can be incredibly costly, both in terms of time and money.”

Doing a little homework and identifying one of these assets will be the single most important thing you’ll do in serving up a smooth ride through a very complex endeavor.

The Near-Term Future: What's Coming Next

If you are an owner thinking about moving from a Gulfstream or a Global into a large-cabin aircraft, you're entering an even smaller club. Only a few will ever enter this world, and it's an exhilaration like no other. But there is an even smaller club that have been through the acquisition, design and completion of a large aircraft - and lived to regret it, both financially and in terms of the final outcome. And it isn't because people or companies are trying to take advantage of you. It's because of a simple paradox: Large green aircraft offer a clean sheet of paper, a blank canvas. A chance to create something completely unique from any aircraft that has ever flown.
